Internship of Anamaria Malešević in the European Parliament
Anamaria Malešević, research assistant at the Digital healthcare ethics laboratory , currently serves as an intern in the office of MEP Karl Ressler in the European Parliament.
Anamaria Maleševic entered a competition in 2021 announced by Karlo Ressler's office on the topic of digital and green transformation in Croatia and was awarded first place. This gave Anamaria the opportunity to actively participate in the work of the MP in Brussels.
Karlo Ressler is Vice-Chair of the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age , providing an opportunity for Research Assistant Malešević to actively follow and be involved in the work of this committee, as well as other committees closely related to her research interests. This is an opportunity to get a first-hand insight into the work of the Parliament itself, particularly now that debates are underway on the regulation of artificial intelligence, the Digital Services Act, and the announcement of the European Chip Act. Members of Parliament have emphasized the need for ethical reflection on artificial intelligence, notably in the field of healthcare, and have also highlighted the potential risks that end users could face. We are excited that the Digit-HeaL lab is contributing to solving the challenges of social, ethical, and legal issues that our research endeavors to bring to light in the context of Croatian society.
The dynamic environment, parliamentary experience, and new knowledge and skills that Research Assistant Malešević will acquire are sure to inform the upcoming research work of the Digit-HeaL lab.
