The panel "Challenges and risky behavior of children and young people in the virtual world"
On the occasion of World Children's Day, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the Society for Communication and Media Culture (DKMK) organized a panel at our University "Challenges and risky behavior of children and young people in the virtual world", on the occasion of which experts in the field of media literacy and of psychology discussed the causes and consequences of sharing intimate photos among young people.
On behalf of CUC, the rector, prof. Željko Tanjić, PhD, expressed his gratitude and pride that our University is the place where experts gather around this important topic.
Panelists, prof. Danijel Labaš, PhD, (DKMK, Head of the University Department of Communication sciences,), Sabina Mandić, PhD, (Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation), Mirjana Soljačić, mag. psych. (Pragma Association) and Kristina Batinić, prof. psych. (Gornjogradska gymnasium) discussed the numerous challenges that children and young people face in today's world, and the results of research conducted by DKMK, which indicates a high percentage of risky behavior trends among young people on the Internet, were presented and disseminated.
The panel was moderated by prof. Igor Kanižaj, PhD, and the emphasis was placed on the importance of open communication and trust within the family, which can be a key factor in the prevention of risky behaviors. The panel attracted a large number of students and experts interested in this current topic, providing an insight into the challenges of modern growing up in the digital age and possible strategies for the protection of children and young people.
