Assist. prof. Brgles at CREATE meeting in Rome

From November 20 to 24, 2024, Assist. Prof. Dr. Miriam Mary Brgles from the Department of Sociology at the Catholic University of Croatia attended a multi-day meeting of the CREATE program at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas—Angelicum in Rome. The meeting, titled "Catholic Social Teaching and Social Innovation," was led by Sr. Helen Alford, OP, Dean of the Faculty and President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

In a one-hour presentation, Dr. Brgles showcased an expanded research model on dimensions of religiosity, incorporating qualitative research methods and highlighting key findings from a study on youth faith, co-authored with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Begić, OP.

Participants also attended the CREATE Prize award ceremony, which this year was presented to Dairis Mezvinskis. Additionally, they visited the Vatican Apostolic Library, where they were welcomed by Don Mauro Mantovani, Prefect of the Library. The group was introduced to the library's operations and valuable collections and toured the exhibition IL LIBRO E LO SPIRITO, organized to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the deaths of St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio and St. Thomas Aquinas.

During her visit, Dr. Brgles also met with her postdoctoral research mentor, Prof. Dr. Cristiano Colombi, to discuss the dissemination of her research findings.

The visit concluded with a solemn Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, celebrated by Pope Francis on the Feast of Christ the King, marking the World Youth Day celebration.
