Leali Osmančević, PhD, on the communication culture of children and young people
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, Leali Osmančević, PhD, from the University Department of Communication sciences and spoke about the importance of developing communication skills of children and young people in the digital age and the challenges of exposure to screens.

In the context of the topic "Reading motivation and communication culture of children and young people", she highlighted the role of emotional intelligence as a prerequisite for better communication skills, active listening and developing empathy from an early age. She also highlighted challenges related to difficulties in expressing thoughts, weaker concentration and attention, and a fragmented way of thinking as a result of excessive and uncontrolled exposure to digital screens. The importance of joint media use within the family and conscious face-to-face conversations contribute to strengthening interpersonal communication skills and non-violent communication as well as understanding generational differences. She talked about the importance of reading and the reading habits of today's generations with writer Sonja Tomić and religious teacher and Catholic writer Nikola Kuzmičić.
