Assistant professor Ježovita's article published in the prestigious journal "Systems Research and Behavioral Science"
Assoc. prof. Josip Ježovita from the University Department of Sociology, co-authored with Assoc. prof. Erik Brezovec from the Faculty of Croatian Studies and prof. Steven Watson from the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, published a scientific paper entitled Theory and Methodology in Sociology – Guiding Distinction in the journal Systems Research and Behavioral Science (Q1 according to the Scimago rank).

The paper investigates how theory and methodology act as key distinctions in sociology, relying on Luhmann's theory of social systems. By analyzing the responses of Croatian sociologists to a hypothetical scenario about the impact of generative artificial intelligence on the labor market, their theoretical and methodological orientations were examined. The results show that sociologists follow methodological principles more easily than theoretical frameworks, which suggests that standardized methodological approaches facilitate their integration into scientific communication.
The paper emphasizes how sociology develops its own rationality independent of individuals, enabling it to be self-referential and adapt to complex social environments. The research topic also fits into the Strategic Topics of Scientific Activities of the Department of Sociology of the Croatian Catholic University, especially in the area of Methodology of Sociological Research: Development and Application.
