Assist. prof. Petra Palić, PhD, participated in the first meeting of the COST action "Mainstreaming water reuse into the circular economy paradigm (Water4Reuse)"
The first meeting of the COST action "CA23104 - Mainstreaming water reuse into the circular economy paradigm (Water4Reuse)" was successfully held on October 25, 2024 in Brussels, and assistant professor Palić participated in it as a member of the Steering Committee of this COST action and as a representative of the Republic of Croatia.
The Water4Reuse COST action brings together scientists, practitioners and other experts throughout Europe and beyond with the aim of researching changes in careers in the modern world and reflecting on the necessary responses of public policies and practices.
This COST action integrates the entire wastewater treatment chain in order to better manage water resources and encourage recycling and reuse of treated wastewater. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it takes into account territorial, health, social, economic and environmental constraints and develops innovative methods such as biorefineries. It also involves key stakeholders (farmers, local authorities, industry), using modeling to assess risks and remove barriers. It thus contributes to resource conservation, cost reduction and quality of life improvement, and promotes waste water as a valuable resource, following the concept of "water on demand".
